Why do you have fevers?

Ever wondered why you have a fever when you are sick?

When you get sick, your body detects germs like viruses or bacteria.

The immune system, which is like your body’s superhero that fights germs, sends messengers called cytokines to your brain.

These messengers tell your hypothalamus to increase your body temperature, resulting in a fever.

This higher temperature can make it harder for the germs to survive and helps your immune system work better.

Eventually you will recover and cool down!
